If you did not know about tariffs you would look at today’s labor data and think the economy was doing just fine. 4.2% unemployment rate 177k job gains 60.2% participation rate 34.2. Weekly hours worked But a cliff is coming if we do not get some policy stability on trade.

Our view Economist Intelligence: EIU is that the Federal Reserve will be fashionably late to cut interest rates again, consistent with their dual mandate, given to them by congress, of stable prices and full employment. Today’s statement only confirms our view.

April CPI showed continued goods deflation and sticking core services prices. The tariffs have yet to materially show up in goods prices, but we do not expect that to continue. The Fed will still be fashionably late, likely not resuming rate cuts until July.

What is wrong with people in public places playing videos, having calls on speaker or otherwise spreading noise pollution. When did this become broadly acceptable?

I am not saying #BYD will go bankrupt, as it has the full force of the party behind it. However, this does remind me of when #ATT wondered how MCI could be beating it. CEO Bernie Ebbers went to jail for inflating the assets. That’s how. Maybe the world’s legit car makers r okay!

Powell to Steve Liesman : we are quite unsure about the exact price elasticity of individual products being tariffed and thus the ultimate impact of the tariffs. Will firms see margins compress? Will they be able to pass on prices? Fully? Partially? Truly uncharted territory.

An incestuous network is one way to see this. Another is via an agglomeration lens. We all know the value of collaboration with people who are smarter or have a tangential but different area of expertise. The best and brightest gravitate towards one another: it’s not surprising
