FutureReefsLab & Coral Nurture Program team members have been out this week rapidly assaying coral thermal tolerance to support choice selection in coral restoration. Great work Paige Strudwick Hadley England Christine Roper Lorna Howlett Wavelength Charters 🪸🪸🪸
Baptism by fire for the first two weeks of my new Post-Doc position with Coral Nurture Program Program and UTS Science. I am beyond grateful to the amazing team from FutureReefsLab and Wavelength Charters who lent a hand to make this huge reciprocal transplantation experiment possible!
A whirlwind few days in the field setting up a new Coral Nurture Program experiment phenotyping corals to help guide future selection of tolerant colonies, lead by FutureReefsLab's newest post-doc Paige Strudwick alongside Lorna Howlett Rachael Scott Hadley England on Wavelength Charters
Out with @PassionsReef yesterday for Coral Nurture Program deploying temperature loggers across CNP stewardship sites on the #GreatBarrierReef and spending some time out-planting nursery grown corals/fragments of opportunity! UTS Science #GenerationRestoration

Glad to say that our study on the viability of plastic-free alternatives in reef restoration propagation is now published! 🪸🦠doi.org/10.1111/1758-2… @coralnurture UTS Science FutureReefsLab OMGlab #GenerationRestoration #GreatBarrierReef #CoralMicrobiome 1/3
Great couple of weeks conducting Coral Nurture Program ecological surveys along the GBR. Glad to report minimal bleaching and good health of outplants in the Whitsundays however some fluorescing and paling already in the northern GBR (Port Douglas area). #GenerationRestoration
Rejuvenating and inspiring to attend the #ReefResilience24 symposium last week! Lorna Howlett Christine Roper and Paige Strudwick presenting on their research, our progress and future directions within Coral Nurture Program. @FutureReefsLab #GenerationRestoration #OceanDecade
Excited to have shared my 3rd PhD chapter on using a portable, high-throughput phenotyping device to guide coral stock selection during this week’s #reefresilience2024 symposium. It’s been an inspiring week following a tough summer for the GBR. FutureReefsLab Coral Nurture Program
🦠🔔New research from Dr Paige Strudwick in the CNP and FutureReefsLab team🔔🪸 We are always aiming to learn more about how our techniques relate to success from the tiny coral microorganisms to the wider impacts on ecosystem functioning. #microbiology #coralmicrobiome
Coral reefs support more than 1 billion people, so their loss would have significant ecological consequences as well as serious repercussions for communities worldwide. Check out our perspective on the link between reef consideration & human rights onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/gc…
