Mosaics were featured throughout homes and public buildings, depicting historical events, parts of Roman life, and mythological scenes. Students in Classical World make their own mosaics, creating interdisciplinary connections to the past. #WeAreCovenant #Charlottesville

Every so often it's important to step back from our work and take time to grow together as a community. Our second day of House Half Days ended with some spectacular field games for students to cheer their Housemates on and fight for the title of House champions! #WeAreCovenant

In honor of Dr. Seuss's 120th birthday, Birdwood had a special edition of book buddies! Reading together is a valuable tool for older students to learn compassion with their younger schoolmates while exemplifying the principles of I Am Third. #WeAreCovenant #Charlottesville

Campus crossover! First grade jumped over to Hickory today to learn all about birds. These curious students dissected owl pellets, made educated guesses about birds based on their feathers, and used microscopes to examine feathers close up. #WeAreCovenant #Charlottesville

After 27 years, our beloved lower school art teacher, Mr. Chad Austin, is retiring. Mr. Austin has been a faithful servant to our school, teaching our youngest students with compassion and patience. His daily presence in our school will be missed! #WeAreCovenant #Charlottesville

It can be tempting to disconnect from our history. Western Civilization students got to surmount that barrier, getting up close to real artifacts from the attack on Normandy Beach on D-Day. #WeAreCovenant #WWII #Normandy #Charlottesville #history #CLAS

Seventh-grade students recently completed a major research project. Students learned to cite sources, write a personal evaluation, and organize their research. Once the projects were assembled, they presented their research to sixth graders. #WeAreCovenant #Charlottesville

Thinking back to the Latin IV field trip to the National Gallery. Students completed a mythology scavenger hunt in support of their final project, where they read a myth in Latin, and then analyzed a piece depicting the same myth. #WeAreCovenant

With Rockbridge only two months away, we're thinking back to Fifth Grade House Reveal Day! Several members of the HLT went down to Birdwood to get to know these rising sixth-graders and to tell them which House community they will be a part of for the next 7 years. #WeAreCovenant
