Well done to Irish Grain Growers for a very enjoyable day in Laois today. Great to have politicians present to hear the pleas from the industry. Meetings like this are important. I even managed to find where my Great Grandfather grew up by the Grand Canal! 🌾🇮🇪🌾

🎣🇮🇪 During a recent meeting with the EU Fisheries Commissioner in Castletownbere, I made it clear that a review of the Common Fisheries Policy is urgently required and disparities facing Irish fishermen must be addressed.

🖥️📱 As I recently wrote in the Irish Independent, it is easy to forget that data centres are necessities, not luxuries. I am focused in Brussels on developing policies that allow us to balance sustained economic growth with the future needs of Irish citizens.

🟢🟡While it was inevitable he'd make the step up following such dominant performances in F2, it’s no less of an achievement for one of Offaly’s own to be the first Irish driver flying the tricolour with pride in F1 in over two decades. The best little county in Ireland for sport

🇪🇺 Great to meet with CEO of the Port of Galway, Conor O'Dowd, again to discuss the latest developments around the port's plans for relocation and extension. It is imperative that the project receives sufficient funding & support to unlock both it and the region's full potential.

🇪🇺🇮🇪At the International Trade Committee this afternoon, the Mercosur trade deal was once again up for discussion. I reiterated my opposition to the proposed deal in its current form, on the basis that it lacks the proper enforcement mechanisms to ensure a level playing field.

🇪🇺🇮🇪 Great to join a Chambers Ireland delegation at the EP this morning, hosted by Seán Kelly MEP. Competitiveness - especially re. energy - remains the key issue, alongside trade uncertainty & need for simplification. Potential of next year’s Ireland's EU Presidency also raised.
