This looks and sounds great, but too many biopics have rendered me disappointed over the past few years. Indian biopics have struggled with the antihero thing. As great as he is, we also know he's a bit nuts. This better live up to that.

Compare Kaathal - the Core in Malayalam with Kaathal - the Core in Tamil, and you'll see the difference between two industries - one's focus on reality and the other's obsession with drama. Husky voices and serial-like intonation really don't belong in a movie like this, Tamil.

Everyone thinks they can weigh in on your life when you're trying to be a filmmaker. "The Canadian universities that rejected your application did it because you haven't watched enough movies," - one among a million unsolicited opinions.

People seem to think that saying "it's easier said than done..." before giving advice allows them to say whatever the hell they want. I myself am guilty of this, so I'm promising myself I'm going to stop giving advice that I can't follow myself. It's easy to do.

I realised earlier today that as much as I hate IPL, it's an important platform for retired (mostly) players and young players to come together and learn from each other. I wish I had a platform like that, one on which I could meet Nolan and Noah Baumbach and Kurosawa alike.

Is it normal to get slightly pissed off when you meet someone who seems to be completely put together and emotionally stable, like they had a terrific childhood with open-minded parents and teachers and no damage whatsoever? That's also privilege, right? Or not?

I just discovered a word - sesquipedalian - an adjective to describe long, polysyllabic words. Now. Do we have a word for a word that perfectly explains what it means by _*being*_ what it means?

I've noticed that in most sitcoms, the spouse that doesn't want kids is always the one that compromises. Always. I'd like to see one situation in which the other compromises. Or neither one compromises and they just break up. A parent who never wanted kids would ruin that child.

I tell people I'm not on Instagram but the truth is, I open it a couple of times an hour and I keep scrolling till I see something that reminds me of why I avoid the medium in the first place, then, once I'm already in the middle of a spiral, I close it. This needs to end.

In Manchester by the Sea, Lee asks Patrick, his nephew, a question at some point, and when Patrick doesn't answer, Lee asks "Do you want me to decide for you?" That line made me feel warm - I wish people would offer to make decisions for me, I'd be ever so grateful.
