Coercive control is abuse without bruises. It’s being watched, isolated, worn down. Every move questioned. Every choice controlled. Freedom eroded bit by bit until you’re trapped. Even after separation, abusers fight to maintain control. As a family lawyer, I call it out and

Labour expects hundreds of thousands to keep PIP via appeals. But appeals destroy mental health and cost millions. So why force this ordeal? Only explanation: you want the appearance of savings, not real ones. Pure cruelty. #WelfareNotWarfare #TakingThePip

TW Suicide Zoe - like so many young autistic women - was incredibly badly let down by mental health services. It is five years today. We demand better for Zoe and countless others, known and unknown, who we hold forever in heart. #JusticeForZoe #ActuallyAutistic #AutismNotPD

I’ve got PIP. I work full time, not least because I also have Access to Work. My colleagues & students think the world of me. Yes I need support. And?PIP enables me to work. It is totally not an out of work benefit. But cuts / changes to both PIP & AtW will jeopardise everything.

I wrote to Sean Woodcock MP about five weeks ago and also offered pro bono disability advisory support, seeing as how it’s my job & all. Have yet to hear back. Anxious about what the reality of disability support means to apparently disinterested MPs.

Retweeting because it’s so important. I’d not be half the academic, mother, Christian, or disability advisor I am if I wasn’t proactive in acknowledging and working through practical disability issues in compassionate and pragmatic ways. No shame. Everyone matters.

More reasons I love my team. I've gone from being dismissed & discounted for raising accessibility concerns, to receiving a beautiful online card of supportive messages for my birthday & comments about the strength I show & respect I garner, consulted for my input not dismissed.

Why are there more PIP claims? Because chronic illness has exploded. Long NHS waits. No social care. No early help. That’s not fraud - that’s government failure. #TakingThePIP

Tonight’s huge climbdown is testament to the countless disabled people who have tirelessly fought these cuts. Yes, UC was a loss and there’s more to do, but let’s not underplay this: a government with a vast majority has been forced to u-turn. Because of the disabled community.

Very sad to see Sean Woodcock MP vote for a badly designed, poorly consulted, and quite frankly dangerous welfare bill, without having responded to my constituent concerns raised a good six weeks ago (and yes I put in a consultation response too).

Concerned to see Catholic parish priests wanting to facilitate negotiation in abuse cases, recommending legal separation over true safeguarding, claiming pastoral support isn't their responsibility. Not what I understand the CBCEW advice to be, & certainly not Christlike.

Today marks the official 2nd anniversary of my career change from NT Greek lecturer to disability advisor. I could not have anticipated what it's brought, but I'm DEFINITELY tying the two back together again, and it's glorious. Inclusive Greek Geek forever.
