Cretaceous Creatures has reached ~14k NC students who have ID'ed ~4k microfossils from near where the Dueling Dinosaurs were found in Montana! Our buddy Secretary Reid Wilson stopped to check out these big fuss over these tiny fossils. (L) Richardoestisia tooth (R) Lizard jaw.

Including a public science project allowing students to discover real microfossils from sediment buried near the #Duelingdinosaurs fossil and send them to NC Museum of Natural Sciences for research called CretaceousCreatures

For #FossilFriday, Dr Headbutt 🐏 she/her 🌈💙 & I have a new paper out on the definition, usage, & protocol regarding the term "headbutting/head-butting/head butting" in dome-headed fossil taxa! What exactly is "headbutting"? Why a domed-head? Are domes rare? Read the paper to find out!

Welcome Fona herzogae! A new species of subfossorial #dinosaur from our mid-K U.S. National Science Foundation funded research that fills a gap in our record of North American thescelosaurs. Art by Jorge Gonzalez. anatomypubs.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/share/D7DFSHTP…
