Another fab keynote, this morning from Natasha Aguilar de Soto. Great to learn more about the habits and threats for deep diving cetaceans. Also I think we can learn from the active work being done in the Canary Islands, the “Paraíso natural” #ECS2023 #ECSconference2023

Great presentations at #ECS2023 European Cetacean Society, by MMS researchers Laia Rojano-Doñate and Emily T Griffiths on their work with energy loss in harbor #porpoise due to ship #noise, and delphinid vocalizations in the Skagerrak. Come find them to chat about their findings!

As my last slide on the ACCURATE talk European Cetacean Society #ECS2023 I invited pretty much everyone (see slide below) to have lunch at a near by tapas place. It was the last session, on Acoustics, chaired jointly with Michael Däehne. I will chair sessions with Michael anytime 😀

3rd day of a great conference. Full of great talk from acoustic folks🎤🎧 I may be biased, but to me the best section! And wonderful talks from my colleagues in Aarhus University. Special mention to the workshop on mental health and its presentation at the #ECS2023 #ECS

I can't describe my feelings now. I'm in shock. I never had the pleasure to meet Gianni in person, but he was one of the columns of my MSc. thesis. He believed in me and helped me entering the bioacoustics world without knowing me. He was an incredible person and researcher.

These are alarming news, that should be making headlines... our life on earth as we know it will change. Too late now to save Arctic summer ice, climate scientists find theguardian.com/environment/20…

Large #baleenwhales can gulp feed their own body mass in prey-laden water, but how much energy does it cost them to perform one of the world’s largest biomechanical actions? 🐋 We investigate that in our new paper in Science Advances 🔗 science.org/doi/10.1126/sc… Check out 🧵

Our recent short paper lead by Mel Cosentino, PhD made the cover of JASA Express Letters this month, with cover image by Cristina Marcolin! Take Home: It is vital to report #FPOD detector settings to ensure results are directly comparable across #speciesmonitoring studies.

Harbour #porpoises will respond to Acoustic Deterrent Device (#ADD) noise (#AHD / #SealScarer). But do they continue to respond after chronic exposure to ADD noise from #aquaculture? 🚨🔗Check out our new #OpenAccess paper! tinyurl.com/yzmse693 Details in🧵 below! (1/n)
