Exciting time for the field! Two amazing studies were published this week on speech BCIs, demonstrating the huge potential of these systems. Our PI Nathan Crone wrote an article together with Utrecht BCI's Nick Ramsey on these recent developments, read about it below 👇

Have you read our latest preprint yet? We synthesized speech from the brain activity of an ALS patient. Interested in this study? We are recruiting more patients! Read all about it via hopkinsmedicine.org/neurology_neur…

Excited to share our new paper published today in Advanced Science doi.org/10.1002/advs.2…. We demonstrate a speech brain computer interface that can be used to reliably control home devices. We were able to maintain 90% median accuracy without decoder recalibration for 3 months.

I am very happy to share that our paper about synthesizing speech from ECoG signals has been published today in Scientific Reports. I am very grateful to our whole team and our participant who have made this work possible. Read the full study here: nature.com/articles/s4159…

Proud of the latest publication of the #UtrechtBCI group, published today in the New England Journal of Medicine. We show both the value and the limitations of implanted BCI technology as a communication solution for people with ALS. nejm.org/doi/full/10.10…
