Dexamethasone, I wouldn't reduce from 16mg to 4-6mg after 4-5 days, seems a little quick if you want to establish minimum effective dose. And please give dexamethasone ideally before 12noon, 2pm latest, not 6pm as advised below.

ATTICUS trial of Apixaban vs aspirin for stroke prevention in ESUS patients was stopped early for futility. This marks 3/3 neutral trial of DOAC for ESUS.

Thrombectomy is a game-changing treatment for stroke. It saves lives and money. So why has Scottish Government decided to cut funding for its use in Scotland? If Majorca can do it for Norrie, why can't we? Uniting with Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland | also on bluesky and clinicians we are calling for a reversal of this cut.

“The vast majority of patients who would benefit from a thrombectomy still don’t have access.” Dr Matt Lambert identified the limitations to treatment being human resource and facilities, with data from 2022 showing only 1% of confirmed strokes receiving the treatment. #UKSF23

Delirium is a very strong predictor of mortality. But it is not perceived as such by most practitioners. It's a weird gap in modern healthcare. Study: "A call to action for delirium research: Meta-analysis and regression of delirium-associated mortality." đź”—

Every hospital has pathways for recognition & management of acute coronary syndromes and stroke - but why not #delirium, a condition with a higher 30-day mortality?
