A frustrating number of journalists will post, “Why is no one talking about this issue?” without going and actually looking to see if someone has reported a story.

Folks of Twitter. Working on a story about estrangement and when it makes sense to make that choice for yourself. Wondering if anyone on here, particularly those involved with #DisabilityTwitter and #NEISVoid, would be interested in being interviewed this week.

I think what is often missing from freelance journalism discourse is that, if you're a freelancer, you are a business owner. You have a fundamentally different work pattern from a staffer and purely thinking hourly is only going to hinder your growth.

looking for an expert out there who can help me estimate how much money content creators are making on tiktok and youtube – if that's you, let's talk plzzz

Nothing shows that disability activists need to talk more about when to move away from the keyboard than one of the leading ones accidentally (I assume) retweeting post telling someone to off themselves.

Can we please ban the use of the word scoop when it comes to anything that isn't entertainment news? Seeing a lot of posts on here around various conflicts with the word scoop in them and a) each one has been reported elsewhere, b) It's just a gross practice.

Really important work here by Marisa. Makes me wonder how USports currently approaches situations like this, given that they have an inclusive policy dating back to 2018/19.

It's so funny to me that the only journalists I've ever heard talking about being ~~so unbiased they don't even vote~~ are ones who did not require a constitutional amendment to grant them the right to vote

Listening to music by Luke Ottenhof and reading andrea bennett's new book (tagging The Tyee because I'm not sure if they are on this platform anymore) is a good way to start the day as I dive into a pile of book research.

You do not need to be an influencer to be a freelance journalist. It can be one path to market yourself, but it's far from the only path.

We need reporting not just to share what impacts disabled people in the wider world but also how the organisations that are meant to be supporting us work. I'm not obsessed that every reporter on disability be a disabled person, but we definitely need more. #AXSChat

For decades, a loophole has allowed disabled farmworkers to be paid well below minimum wage. That may be changing. New from John Loeppky: ambrook.com/research/persp…
