After getting to two outs, Misiorowski's velocity was down a couple of ticks. He threw five pitches the rest of the inning between 95-96 mph, bottoming out at 95.4 mph. The pitch Nimmo hit out, though, was a 95.7 mph slider.

The Brewers have returned Blake Perkins from his rehab assignment to the injured list with a left groin strain -- a different injury than the one he was previously on for.

From the Brewers: Luis Peña was hit by a pitch last night with Class-A Carolina. X-rays showed no fracture, just a contusion on his left hand/wrist.

Final: Mets 3, Brewers 2 A promising start to the series ends with the first series loss since June 9-11. Some ground balls the third time through the order got José Quintana, who didn't pitch poorly but didn't have any swing-and-miss. The offense was quiet. The record: 48-39

Pat Murphy called it the best José Quintana has looked on the mound with the Brewers. It still wasn’t enough to avoid a series loss in Flushing. jsonline.com/story/sports/m…

Believe the Brewers are the only team today (at least so far) to match their batting helmets with the special Fourth of July hat design, even down to the candy-stripe rope at the base of the bill. Some crazy attention to detail from (I presume) equipment guru Jason Shawger.

Brandon Woodruff is lined up to make his American Family Field return Saturday. Freddy Peralta would pitch Sunday, making him unavailable for the ASG. Too early at this time to say if he would pitch right away out of the break, the manager indicated.

Pat Murphy has Joey Ortiz out of the lineup for a second straight day in hopes of Ortiz cleaning up his swing decisions. “Conviction” is the word Murphy used to describe what he’s hoping to get out of a couple days watching from the bench for Ortiz.

With swing decisions now in the limelight once again with the Brewers, it's a chance to revisit our off-season look at which Brewers graded out the best and the worst. jsonline.com/story/sports/m…

Welcome to Milwaukee, Andrew Vaughn. The first at-bat for the Brewers' return in the Aaron Civale deal is a three-run homer off Yoshinobu Yamamoto.

Did not have this one on my bingo card ahead of a matchup of NL all-star pitchers. Yoshinobu Yamamoto didn't make it out of the first inning. The Brewers hung five runs on him before he recorded the third out, all with two outs. Two were unearned after a Mookie Betts error.

Freddy Peralta is fired up. A day after being named an all-star, he strands two in the sixth inning to cap six shutout frames tonight against the best offense in the National League. All in all, one of his best outings of the year.

Final: Brewers 9, Dodgers 1 Two all-star starters entered, but only one made it out of the first inning. Freddy Peralta was excellent. Andrew Vaughn delivered a memorable swing. The Brewers have their largest victory over LA since May 5, 2010. The record: 51-40
