Did you know… ​Only around 35% of Enhanced checks need to be sent to the police. ​If there is a match on the PNC, DBS will share the check with the relevant police forces.

Police performance at stage 4 can vary for different reasons, including missing/incorrect information on applications, staff turnover & unexpected higher volumes of checks. DBS works closely with forces to implement support to ensure that customers receive their check quickly.

Enhanced DBS checks may be delayed as a result of missing/incorrect information on applications. This will inevitably increase the length of time the check takes. We recommend that you make sure your DBS application is filled in correctly before you submit to avoid any delays.
