Last Thursday, 35 KS4 students went to the Maths in Action talks in London. They participated in the Big Maths Gameshow. and enjoyed fascinating talks on Optical Illusions and whether to believe everything you read in the news.

Two Year 10 teams recently competed in the "Advanced Maths Support Programme" Year 10 Maths competition at Herne Bay High School. They  all performed well, displaying excellent problem solving and team-working skills throughout -  both essential for future study in STEM subjects.

DGSB hosted it's own in school Maths Competition this week. Years 7 to 10 took part in a range of activities, winning points for their house. Lots of fun and healthy competition was had, and after a hard fought week, the winners for this year were Castle house. Well done!

Yr12 students from the DGSB Top Achievers Programme visited St Hugh's College at the University of Oxford. They toured the college, heard from undergraduate students and took part in workshops. St Hugh's College will visit DGSB soon to run a follow up session with our students.

Congratulations to all our students who took part in the UKMT Junior Maths Challenge this year. We are proud to announce that our pupils achieved an impressive 17 Bronze, 13 Silver, and 11 Gold certificates. Well done to all involved for their work and mathematical enthusiasm!

On a ranger led tour at Wildwood, Year 8 students learnt about the lifestyle, habitat, diet and conservation of European Brown Bears, European Bison, Konik Ponies and Wild Boar. They also sifted leaf litter for invertebrates and collected and classified specimens using pooters.

Congratulations to former pupil Archie Henderson who has recently signed for Blackburn Rovers FC. Archie was an integral part of the U15 and U16 DGSB teams who won the Kent Cup in 2024 and 2025. We wish Archie the very best as he begins the next part of his footballing journey.
