Thank you Sally Devenport & London ACPIN for an excellent webinar this morning using educational theory to increase self practice in rehab; lots to consider including our patients’ understanding & ensure we offer structured, supportive & rewarding opportunities to practice 💪 🎯

Looking forward to our first open gym in Weymouth next week. Soon to be rolled out across our area, with Sherborne & Bridport coming next. Open to those predominantly on slower stream rehab pathway or who have finished formal therapy who want their treatment reviewed or tweaked

Our first community open gym took place today- 2 staff, room full of stroke survivors and rehab companions (up to 5 years post stroke). Varied practice from getting off the floor, estim (2 different applications) exercise bike, fatigue review, writing, balance and upper limb.

Another happy trial participant randomised and set up today with vagal nerve stimulation (for upper limb) and two expressions of interest sent for involvement in new stroke rehab trials too. A good research day is a happy day for all of us!

Thank you Everyone Active for helping us achieve this. It’s so important for people following stroke to feel comfortable and confident to use local leisure facilities to improve their health. We look forward to working together across our patch
