Weāre āpumpedā to share new work using bioelectricity to inflate living organoids via what we call 'electro-inflationā: e-fields can program ion+water pumping!. W/power-trio Gawoon Shim, Isaac Breinyn, Alejandro MartĆnez Calvo. See: biorxiv.org/content/10.110ā¦. Vid=kidneyoid+1V/cm E-field. more soon!

One of the most rewarding things I get to do is run a week-long science storytelling workshop each summer with my friend Annetta Black of Odd Salon and (thanks U.S. National Science Foundation and Princeton Council on Science & Technology!). It's time for Lab Tales #4! Funding for 5 non-Princeton trainees. Apply: forms.gle/Eagrqatp1UUyJnā¦

This being a collaboration with the Daniel J. Cohen (CohenLab at Princeton) lab, we just had to see how tissues would respond to local EGFR stimuli at macroscopic scales. Here is a 6 mm diameter tissue with a 1 mm light pattern. Cell rearrangements propagate hundreds of microns from the light boundary!

We used light to herd cell growth with jared toettcher lab! Optogenetics is pretty cool. Super fun collab. and exquisite data from Kevin Suh* and Richard Thornton*. Video: blue light pattern--> sheet of living tissue rearranges into creepy eye. See jared toettcher forš§µ. biorxiv.org/content/10.110ā¦

It's time for CELLBIO abstracts and story time! 1. Dr. Allyson Sgro and I have a session on collective behaviors. We need YOU! Apply to: 'Welcome to the Zellenstaat' ascb.org/cellbio2024/ab⦠2. I'm ALSO running a workshop there on sci. history/storytelling (reg. details pending)!
