Check out this study led by @a_j_dobson: effects of diet on fly fitness depended on interactions with mtDNA haplotype, and mitonuclear interactions. Genotype matters in responses to diet, and the mtDNA is a key part of this, including a SNP in the 16S rRNA of the mito ribosome.

Last time I was at the Plenary at MCEC was for Nick Cave. Today, Jade Kannangara from our lab rocked that very stage Biomolecular Horizons 2024 presenting her research on the evolutionary implications of mitochondrial heteroplasmy in response to thermal selection.
