The regime in Togo is trying to hide behind Pan-Africanism and align itself with the AES as a cover to win support, but it won't work. Genuine Pan-Africanists are on the side of the Togolese people, not the regime which oppresses them.
Correct. Since the 1960s there has been a coordinated effort to keep us divided because that division keeps us weak. Malcolm X noted that he was discouraged from traveling to Africa to make these connections. This effort to keep us divided continues to this day.
There at plenty of organizations that speak against it and the AES was even formed partly to fight jihadists. Again, it's the people who aren't involved in the politics of Africa who criticize on social media from a position of ignorance.
Also dismissing toppling a military dictatorship as merely nothing is to be expected from someone who wouldn't understand the level of coordination that goes into an effort like that. This is why social media critics of Pan-Africanism have marginal political impact.
Islamophobia doesn't fly with Pan Africanism. A lot of black Christians think politically uniting with Non-Christian black ppl will send them to hell. Smh.
This effort to rebrand the regime in Togo as a Pan-African one won't work because history has demonstrated that the Gnassingbé dynasty ruthlessly opposed genuine Pan-Africanists like Tavio Amorin.
It's not ironic at all actually. The dictator in Togo has been aligning itself with the AES precisely because the AES represents something different and the dictator in Togo is now trying to rebrand to save itself.
What I was pointing to was actually your insignificance. When the Sudanese people were fighting for change, Pan-Africanists supported them. You do nothing but complain and criticize, but offer no alternatives or solutions because you have none.
Malcolm X's OAAU was inspired by the OAU in Africa. As a member of the NOI, Malcolm had always expressed and interest in Africa's anti-colonial struggles. After he broke with the NOI, he had more freedom to pursue his Pan-African vision.
I share book recommendations here for the same reason that I manage a digital library, which is that my belief is that social media should be used to share access to knowledge and information, especially since too many use it for disinformation.
Kwame Nkrumah aided the anti-colonial struggle in Guyana. The liberation movements of the 1960s were effective because they were unified and supported each other. This is why there has been such a consistent effort to keep us divided.
What I find funny is that Yvette claimed Pan-Africanism was dead in 2018 and has spent the years since then trying to convince people of her position. I have never seen someone fight so hard against a "dead" movement.
