Visited again by Hummingbird Hawks - 2 today again. A delight to watch. They seem to favour this pale pink Phlox in the garden. Certainly a good year for them. West Midlands Butterfly Conservation

What a super spot the lily pond in the old gravel pit at Trentham Park is! We had 9 species of Dragonfly and Damselfly today. Will post a few shots. #trenthamGP

May be small but the Common Emerald damselfly is a stunner. Typically holds its wings spread out. At Trentham Gravel Pit. #trenthamGP

It's great watching the big hawker dragonflies hunting for seemingly hours on end; never landing, then suddenly ... This Brown Hawker landed on my wife's leg. It allowed us to handle it seemingly being reluctant to leave us. #trenthamGP

Not a moth but an interesting by-catch - of sorts. These are the eggs of a lacewing. Can't say which as there were several in the trap.

Saw this a week ago at Prees Heath Common and now it's on my local patch. It is the distinctive tachinid Phasia hemiptera; a female.

Grasshoppers are great. You try and get a side shot of one on a grass stem and they just move, keeping the stem between you and it :) This is a Field Grasshopper.
