Quick reminder: A decade ago, 5,000+ abortions were performed in MO. In 2020, the total dropped to 167 due to “targeted regulation of abortion providers” laws, including a 72-hr waiting period. June 2022 - July 2024: 74 abortions happened under the state’s emergency exemption.

My first job out of college was in a rural community. It paid me less than $20,000. The newspaper’s at-the-time corporate owners whittled down the staff and ultimately sold it. The new owner fired the entire unionized staff shortly after.
