"Don't tell him Pike!" Remembering the late great actor Arthur Lowe born on this day 1915. Unequalled as Capt Mainwaring in Dad's Army. Here remembered at a blue plaque tribute I helped organise back in the early 1990s, attended by many of his acting friends and fellow cast.

#OTD Celebrating the 110th birthday of Arthur Lowe, English actor who was born on 22nd of Sept 1915. A veteran of the stage and screen, Lowe's versatile career was often overshadowed by his iconic portrayal of Capt. Mainwaring in the much loved Dad's Army. Dad's Army Fans 🇬🇧

Amazing what you come across on an Ashton-under-Lyne back street! I wonder how old Corporal Jones must be these days? Amazed he still has a licence. Perhaps the platoon had been visiting Captain Mainwaring's family. He lived on Mottram Road, Hyde, as a baby.
