I’ve been on to introduced myself and my staff to our new neighbour’s, two tups from last weeks Hawes Hunks sale. Fine and friendly chaps I am sure we will get along. The butler and I are feeding the tups and lambs all week so I will keep you posted.

The butler took me to the bottom of the garden this morning to witness a temperature inversion, a regular event at this time of year. I was more interested in the young rabbit that is coming in to the garden!

Just over a year ago ‘our mam put a blue collar on me to identify me. Tonight the staff have continued this tradition and put on a blue collar so they can see me in the dark. Strangely, I am now allowed off the lead more as they can see me and any approaching cars in three dark.

This new collar is less bulky but gives off just as much light, which has resulted in much more time off my lead. This means our evening walk is taking a long time as I like to sniff the entire verge on both sides! Here I am setting off we get back in the pitch dark.

The butler, who is slow to excite got all giddy yesterday when he found some ceps on our walk. He is to eat them today. He found, or rather I found, some shaggy parasols on a previous walk but he had not brought a bag to carry them in.

When the staff came to look for me they were surprised to find I had climbed onto the grooming table. Unusual for me to climb so the staff think it is because we are off to the vet. They did a test and I have some round worm! So I need a tablet apparently.

I’m out in the dark and the staff don’t have their torches on but they can see me. Not sure I’m keen on this arrangement.

Now it is autumn the staff light a fire on a Sunday morning. Today they are having toasted currant T-cakes with a heavy serving of butter. Even though I waited patiently I did not score any! Back to my rabbit ear. The butler caught me trying to hide it for later.

Burning rosemary to keep the witches at bay!

The butler is beyond excited, which is an unusual occurrence to witness and does not happen often. We have been for a walk and he has come back with a sizeable haul of Bay Bolete’s. The HK conceded they are what he’s says but will still not be eating them!

There is nothing on the menu this week that these could be added to, so the butler has fried them in butter added seasoning and a wallop of cream and a glug of milk and blended into a soup. The HK thinks it is too creamy the butler does not accept the state of too creamy exists!

The HK has bought the butler a limited edition Baileys Terrys chocolate Orange 🍊 flavour that arrived this morning. He did not wait long to try it! I was interested to see as I get to pre wash the glass. We both agreed it is scrumptious! The present tense will not last long.

Now the cool weather has returned we have resumed taking our afternoon walk. The staff are very pleased with my conduct & I was off the lead on all of the field sections, returned when called and did not chase anything. Well a crow. Scored a 2nd salmon skin treat! Winning

The butler is drinking coffee and doing Wordle so I have dug this old favourite out of my toy box and brought it to be filled. The HK has obliged in this task. The butler can’t do more than one thing at once.

Apparently I’m a bit noisy this morning!

My Sunday morning is getting off to a crunchy start!
