Today we mourn the loss of one of our Founders, a giant in Cardiology whose life's work and teachings influenced Cardiology and Electrophysiology for five decades. Professor Hein Wellens passed away today and left a permanent void in our hearts and in our field.

Hein Wellens, MD (1935-2020): Farewell to a giant in cardiology. In 1967, Wellens and colleagues described programmed stimulation for the first time in 4 patients with Wolff-Parkinson-White Syndrome, catalyzing the field of invasive EP. He will be missed. ahajournals.org/doi/10.1161/01…

What a big loss for #Epeeps community - He was a master clinician, an inspirational teacher and a kind soul. I won’t forget his last course with Dr. Josephson in Boston 2016. Rest In Peace Professor Wellens (1935-2020).
