Today, we held a retirement luncheon for several UBC Mathematics colleagues, including my good friend N. Ghoussoub. Besides his many contributions to research and to UBC, he was a driving force in the creation and sucess of Pacific Institute for the Mathematical Sciences Mitacs and BIRS.

We celebrated the retirement of my UBC Mathematics colleague and good friend Professor Leah Keshet today. Leah's research and leadership contributions to mathematical biology are well known. There is a Leah Edelstein-Keshet Prize given by the Society of Mathematical Biology.
