What an amazing few days!

Giving awards & prizes for perfect attendance is ableist. It’s dangerous for students and staff who rely on community care for wellness. It’s unfair to students who get sick & do their part to protect their peers and teachers. It’s 2023. We can do better.

Summer training complete. Officially off to start my journey making The Difference as part of a very special cohort.

Trying to cram in as much as possible before it’s back to school time!

Instead of ‘the importance of attendance’ we need to be focusing on the importance of felt safety, belonging and inclusion. For many children, young people and staff, schools are toxic places.

Why on earth would she want direct access to such a list? Surely time and resources would be better spent looking at causes of persistent absence, rather than imposing ‘tougher’ rules..?

Now then, where did I leave my lanyard? 😅 #firstdayback
