Huntington Beach City Council members Dan Kalmick, Natalie Moser and Rhonda Bolton have introduced an agenda item for Tuesday night's meeting that seeks to ask the voters in November's election whether or not the city should outsource library management to a private company. (1)
Thank you Asm. Al Muratsuchi for bringing forward #ab1825 CA Freedom to Read Act. Just passed the Assembly 49-3. Now onto the Senate. Huntington Beach residents need this bill to protect their libraries from politicians deciding what books are in YOUR library. TY for you stewardship.

frankielittleton Dan Kalmick Rhonda Bolton Rob Bonta Rob Bonta It was a closed-session vote on a settlement negotiated by the City Attorney. The Majority passed it. Code Four won. The taxpayers lost.
My AB 1825, the CA Freedom to Read Act, which would fight book bans and defend the freedom to read, passed the California Legislature today. It will now go to the Governor Gavin Newsom's desk to await his signature. #CALeg
As of January first, Cities including Charter Cities will not be able to remove or preclude books based on subjective standards. This will protect our library in Huntington Beach. Thank you Al Muratsuchi for your leadership!

Thank you Rhonda Bolton, Dan Kalmick and Natalie Moser for your leadership. At a time when your City Council majority is reveling in hate, you have made clear time and time again that hate and bigotry are not values that are tolerated in Surf City.
We’re honored to receive the endorsement of the Orange County Register! Together with Rhonda Bolton and Dan Kalmick , I’m committed to practical governance and creating a city that truly serves all of its residents. #HuntingtonBeach
