I cannot remember a US President speaking so sharply to #Israel. Unlike other US Presidents, Trump could turn on Israel & his supporters would stick with him. rte.ie/news/middle-ea…

I don’t think Israel has any alternative but to heed Trump. Should also push on with ceasefire talks & release of all hostages. Given how Israeli intelligence targeted Iran’s military elite & nuke scientists, there can be no doubting their ability to curb the remnants of Hamas.

I don’t believe there has ever been such public use of a F-bomb by a US President. Shows how angry he is at breaches of the Israel-Iran ceasefire he announced with fanfare overnight.

At the heart of Trump’s anger with #Israel is his transactional nature. He sees himself as a master of give-and-take bargaining. His view is probably that he did Israel a big favour by bombing Iran’s nuclear sites & that Israel needs to pay him back by accepting his ceasefire.

This is a good idea. It needs to be done. We should aim to make Dublin a better city, one that we can be deeply & unreservedly proud of. O’Connell Street ought to be our equivalent of Barcelona’s Ramblas.

It might be an idea to put a major institution in O’Connell Street to provide it with a positive focal point around which other gainful activities could congregate.

Zohran Mamdani is probably not the future of Democratic Party, but his success in the NY Primary shows the potential appeal of left-wing populism. A combination of clear messaging & charisma did the trick. In 2016,some voters supported Sanders & then Trump irishtimes.com/world/us/2025/…

I’d grown almost to love this street, each time I passed looking up to pin my father’s face to a window, feel myself held by his gaze. Today there’s a building site where the hospital stood & I stop & stare stupidly at the empty air, looking for him. Peter Sirr #IrishPoetry

In this interview I tell the story of how the North-South Business Cooperation Awards came about through a chance meeting I had with Sir Stelios Haji-Ioannou in Monaco. The prize fund for these awards is €500k. Application forms @ Stelios.ie linkedin.com/posts/stelios-…

Once when I couldn’t go to a game with Tommie, he took my father who became his sound man & ended up interrogating Bryan Robson in the press area.

ā€˜Irish’ (supposedly) accounts on this platform are obsessed with immigration and their views are infused with barely concealed racism. Immigration is a challenge for Ireland as it is for other EU countries, and we need to face up to it effectively. I doesn’t yield to blunt catch

MartinMurphy72 šŸ‡®šŸ‡Ŗ Daniel Mulhall There is not an immigrant problem. There is a planning problem at gov level. Bringing overseas investment & talent increased the population which pressurises our resources (housing, energy, water etc). This was avoidable but now, to deflect blame, immigrants are being blamed

The room held little but depth o’ dark; A woman stirred & spoke the young one’s name The first showed no spark, But presently there came A slipeen of a girl who made a flame By burning paper, holding it torch-fashion, Thinking, maybe, the place would stir compassion. Winifred M.

A woman stirred & spoke the young one’s name

But presently there came
