HT, 0-1. Feels like a familiar story for Spurs, who have had more of the ball but struggled to create against a compact Villa and trail to a set piece goal. How long before Postecoglou calls for Maddison or Richarlison?

My book, ‘States of Play’, is out now. It is really a modern history of football, and how it has been transformed by three main forces: geopolitics, especially autocratic states; a very western capitalism; the game’s own greed and failures of authority geni.us/StatesOfPlay

There feels a strong chance Spurs will respond here to win comfortably, as they did against Villa a week ago. But consistently having to recover from a goal down is not sustainable indefinitely & eventually they'll get a game like Wolves last February, where they come unstuck.

HT, 0-2. Some boos at the whistle. Sitting here a week ago, I was pessimistic about Spurs coming back from 1-0 down against Villa, so this game is very far from over. But Spurs been flat & predictable a very post-Europy performance. Credit to Ipswich, been disciplined & a threat.
