🧵regarding the 2-handed knot tying technique, and specifically whether it has *any* advantages over the 1-handed method. We'll cover why one should practice tying with a 2-handed technique, and also go over the important concept of why it's easier to tie 'up in the air'. (1/ )

🆕Appendectomy does not need to be done overnight ‼️No difference between 24h and 8h time to surgery Now, we need OR systems with flexibility that do not force overnight work, for the benefit of patients & healthcare workers (the latter ultimately benefits even more patients

🧵regarding sutures that have been tied either too tight or too loose, as opposed to those that are just right: Here we will go over some examples of these and how to recognize them, and what may happen if sutures that are too tight or too loose are left in place. (1/ )

Vicryl Rapide and 'regular' Vicryl sutures look the same and feel the same when you're tying with them...but they are NOT the same sutures and they may NOT be used interchangeably. Vicryl Rapide will lose its strength in only 7-10 days, unlike 'regular' Vicryl (~3 weeks).

Dr Luis Felipe Cabrera Vargas MD FACS BBASS Paula Ferrada MD FACS FCCM MAMSE David O'Regan 💚💙 Xavier Berard Ricardo Bernardo da Silva W. Michael Park, MD Adam W. Beck Unrelated, but the video shows something I like to point out: it's possible to injure the bowel with the proximal portion of the needle driver. This can occur because the person sewing is usually looking elsewhere. In fact, there's a scuff mark on the bowel from this.
