Will be running a free workshop in April for dancers/choreographers & poets who are interested in producing dance poetry pieces. Let me know if you're interested. Numbers limited so I can really help each person to come up with an action plan that works. #payitforward #letsdothis

Inspiring to talk to Professor Paul Zolbrod, author of the Navajo Creation Myth ( Dine Bahane) about a possible dance- text collaboration. It's a creation myth that offers a new kind of approach to understanding gender and male-female equality.

'The connection between writing and dancing has been much on my mind recently: it’s a channel I want to keep open... for me the two forms are close to each other: I feel dance has something to tell me about what I do.' Zadie Smith brainpickings.org/2018/03/08/zad…

Love this from one of my favourite dancers, Juliet Doherty youtube.com/watch?v=8qrQim…. Great use of outdoor vs. indoor.

My amazing friend Phil Simson makes these incredible one of a kind boot adornments/spurs. I've seen them close up and they are small pieces of art you can wear. LOVE this. brootscustom.com

Researching history of dance as I write a piece on Nathalie Teitler for culturised. I am struck by the way Pina Bausch turned the dance world on its head by posing questions to dancers as a form of choreography instead of presenting answers. There is much for poetry to learn.

Also struck by the changing role of the (female) body in the history of Western dance. A tale of objectification/oppression, enlightenment & of pushing back borders/bounderies to reach empowerment. So much respect for the female choreographers I know Ella Mesma, @MaxDanceProj

Hoping some day to do a series of pieces about female icons-including Pina Bausch- with commissioned poems by fierce female poets and female choreographers exploring the role of the body. Watch this space.

Of all women who were the victims of homicide globally in 2012, almost half were killed by intimate partners or family members, compared to less than six per cent of men killed in the same year. Researching for Culturised article

China's one-child policy ran from 1979 to 2015/2016 leading to major gender disparity. More research. Everything I work on seems to lead back to power struggles around the (female) body and the need to transform the body into a space of empowerment.

My CV should probably read-'ability to panic/worry comprehensively in 5 languages. Unable to tech in any.' Fortunately I now have a young intern, talented poet @JosetteJoseph_ who will take care of these things...
