It’s easy to think there are too many scientists/biologists/astronomers/etc given how many more PhDs are granted today than say a century ago. But step into any field, and you will be *astonished* at how much basic work is left undone, we desperately need more scientists in fact!

Alt-science crowd: ~10 independent lines of evidence isn't enough to convince me dark matter is a thing. Same crowd: I'm convinced my personal theory hasn't been written into textbooks because of a GLOBAL CABAL of BAD FAITH ACTORS ... for which there is no evidence.
