The abuse Jay Basra has faced for taking part in the Twelfth is off the charts. This message isn’t just vile—it’s been liked over 100 times, and Jay has endured unrelenting abuse for years. Silence from Nationalist leaders only emboldens this kind of hate. Time to speak up.

I have signed a cross-party letter to the Prime Minister calling for the government to urgently take actions on the proposed national inquiry into grooming gangs. It is absolutely vital that this work is taken forward urgently and with victims & survivors at the heart of it.

I do not understand how grown men can have such hatred in their hearts that they object to children playing sport together. We must continue to work so that the kids who would have attended this camp will grow up in a better society, free from this kind of sectarian hate.

I can’t keep having second hand cringe explaining this to people who don’t live here. I am begging please make it stop.

It is disgraceful that a children’s summer camp had to be cancelled in the face of such intolerance. I cannot even begin to fathom the mindset of those who would object to children from different backgrounds coming together to play sport. Solidarity and support to the club.

This episode shows the need for more cross community work for our young people- not less. Solidarity with all those who want to make our community .ore tolerant, more inclusive.

Connie Egan MLA (@connieegan94) 's Twitter Profile Photo

This is incredibly depressing; North Down Cricket Club cancelled a cross community sports camp bringing children from different backgrounds together due to opposition. Pathetic that some felt threatened by this. This kind of intolerance should have no place in Northern Ireland.

Massive shoutout to Mullan Motorcycles for calling in today and donating £100 to ARC Fitness 🙌 It’s this kind of ongoing community support that helps us keep the lights on, the sessions running, and the impact growing. Thank you for standing with us 💙

A cross-community event is supposed to bring together people from different backgrounds, that is its whole purpose. I am not sure how that can be achieved by excluding children from different backgrounds just because they play a different sport.

If you wanted to convince a section of the population that they will never be welcome in this place you couldn’t do much better than this -

Danny Donnelly MLA I'm 47 years old, I grew up through the 80s and 90s here and remember all kinds of "across the barricades" programmes. It's hard to believe this kind of opposition to it is still so common place. I literally want to scream.

“A spokesman for the Orange Order told BBC News NI the organisation had no comment to make about the issue.” This is just not good enough. This campaign was led by one of their lodges, and who have suffered in the fallout? Children. This needs addressed, and repudiated.

Choyaa (@choyaa13) 's Twitter Profile Photo

The Orange Lodge’s intervention was wrong—mean-spirited, petty, and uncharitable. It runs counter to the Institution’s ethos of civil and religious liberty for all. The Orange has an image problem, and actions like this explain the dwindling numbers on parade at every Twelfth.

Fantastic that Cricket Ireland has stepped up like. Shocking that they had to offer an alternative due to the prejudice of adults. Children from East Belfast GAA just want to enjoy sport and have fun. Shame on those who would stand in their, or any child's, way.

28 children have been killed each day in Gaza since Oct 7, 2023. Nothing justifies killing more than 20,000 children in Gaza. Nothing. Not self defense. Not human shields. Not a damn thing.

I was horrified by the news this week that North Down Cricket Club felt they had no choice but to postpone a summer club welcoming children from all backgrounds because of complaints from groups in the local area. (1/5)
