I do not understand how grown men can have such hatred in their hearts that they object to children playing sport together. We must continue to work so that the kids who would have attended this camp will grow up in a better society, free from this kind of sectarian hate.

This is incredibly depressing; North Down Cricket Club cancelled a cross community sports camp bringing children from different backgrounds together due to opposition. Pathetic that some felt threatened by this. This kind of intolerance should have no place in Northern Ireland.

A cross-community event is supposed to bring together people from different backgrounds, that is its whole purpose. I am not sure how that can be achieved by excluding children from different backgrounds just because they play a different sport.

The Orange Lodge’s intervention was wrong—mean-spirited, petty, and uncharitable. It runs counter to the Institution’s ethos of civil and religious liberty for all. The Orange has an image problem, and actions like this explain the dwindling numbers on parade at every Twelfth.

Fantastic that Cricket Ireland has stepped up like. Shocking that they had to offer an alternative due to the prejudice of adults. Children from East Belfast GAA just want to enjoy sport and have fun. Shame on those who would stand in their, or any child's, way.
