A productive week presenting & discussing the enabling value of high performance computing, data science for biomedical research and practice at the Bio.IT World Conference in Boston.

The underrepresentation of Africans in genomics is largely due to a lack of capacity, data and analytical expertise in the continent. Last year, we trained about 25 African scientists in Polygenic Risk Score Analysis. 1/3

We are so grateful to Wellcome Connecting Science Learning and Training for buying into this vision of building capacity in Africa, helping to formulate this strategy, funding the workshop & co-organising it. The future of genomics in Africa lies in the capacity to generate & analyse large-scale genomic data. 3/3
