🇰🇪The Kenya team are based at Bahari Hai, Oceans Alive ’s study centre perched above the Indian Ocean, overlooking the reef. Basic but comfy, with a lovely team. Resident wildlife includes lizards, monkeys, colourful birds, cats, and a three legged dog

🇰🇪Sunday morning saw the Kenya team welcomed at the Ebenezer Light of God church. The next hour was an exciting, boisterous carnival of song, music, prayer and dancing full of joy and spirituality. Our singing on stage, while less polished, was warmly and kindly received!

🇰🇪After church, a rest day yesterday saw the Kenya team visit a beach bar for lunch, where they had the opportunity to get henna.

🇰🇪This evening we were treated to a culture night, with dancers and acrobats from the local community coming to perform for us. The children sang and danced to traditional Kenyan music, the acrobats were spectacular and a large lion surprised a few team members!

🇰🇪This afternoon we were challenged to a football match against local ladies team on a sand pitch surrounded by palm trees. In the fierce heat, the team played hard but eventually lost 4-1. We were then able to distribute the football clothing we had brought from the UK

🇰🇪This morning we left Bahari Hai and Oceans Alive, headed for the interior of Kenya. The sadness of leaving this amazing team who have looked after us so well is tempered by excitement for our upcoming safari in Tsavo East

🇰🇪On our way from the lush coast to the more arid interior, we had time to stop at a craft market and the Kenya team could practice their haggling against some very experienced salesmen and women. Levels of success varied!

🇰🇪Arriving at Ngutuni Lodge in Tsavo East, we were treated to a huge collection of animals just outside our rooms. An evening game drive allowed us to see warthogs, elephants, zebras, giraffes, hyena and lots of other animals amongst the stunning bush

🇰🇪A 0530 start for an early morning game drive was a great way to start our last day in Kenya. We were rewarded with a spectacle of sunrise, animals and bird life.

🇰🇪🇬🇧With our arrival on UK soil, our Kenya 2024 adventure comes to an end. It was such a vibrant, exciting experience, with a huge variety of experiences, it’s difficult to sum up, but here is an attempt with four images as we sign off.

🇸🇪AA25 After missed flights and a much later arrival than expected, the Arctic Adventure 2025 is underway. It’s -8°C with fresh snow overnight and a lot of snowballs are being thrown!

🇸🇪AA25 First task for the Arctic Adventurers, shopping for more than 250 meals, and then hauling it 3km back to our cabin on sledges. Easy downhill, hard work uphill!

🇸🇪AA25 Two hours inland today for the Arctic Adventurers as we joined Morgan and his dogs to sled. Across frozen lakes and through endless pines we rode, until a stop for a lunch of meatballs, smoked moose, malt bread and blueberry juice around the fire in a lavvo (tent)

🇸🇪AA25 This evening the Arctic Adventurers joined the Skelleftea Rodel Club to learn the growing sport of Alpine Luge. Fast and partially under control, they accelerated down the slope, mostly ignoring the slalom gates, and carved huge turns to stop at the bottom!

🇸🇪AA25 A visit to Skellefteå museum today, where the archivist, Jurgen, showed us around. We learned about the history of the city, and Vasterbotten county, and visited the newspaper archives to find out what happened in the city on their birthdays

🇸🇪AA25 Yesterday, the Arctic Adventurers donned snowshoes and climbed through the woods over Vitberget and down to a frozen lake. Here we lit a fire and cooked lunch, before snowshoeing back over the ridge and home

🇸🇪AA25 Today, the Arctic Adventurers were hosted by Morö Backe Skoda. We spent time in classes, compared our schools with Swedish students and made lots of friends. Breaktime was a chance to try ice skating on the school’s own hockey rink!
