Last night at dinner one of my kids talked about hearing about "loaded language" in surveys and I was like: I HAVE A STUDY I NEED TO TELL YOU ABOUT! gh.bmj.com/content/3/2/e0…

I was on a call this morning discussing how to measure student absences in an impact evaluation. There are options, and there are several studies that have compared across options. sciencedirect.com/science/articl…

I was in a meeting yesterday and someone had brought cookies to share, and we all kept breaking off little pieces of the cookie, and I kept thinking of Zeno's dichotomy paradox (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zeno%27s_…). But the cookie DID eventually get entirely eaten, so I guess that solves it?

Some personal news… After 14 years (!) this is my last week at Center for Global Development. More later on what's next, but first a short thread of appreciation for a place which I think is not just special, but indispensable. (This is a bit grandiose, but I'm leaving, so permit me this once.) 1/

Justin embodies the very best of Center for Global Development. His departure is a huge loss to the organisation and his legacy is immense. I feel privileged to have worked alongside him through my seven years there.

Extremely excited to have Justin Sandefur officially joining Open Philanthropy to lead our work on economic growth in LMICs! Lots of opportunities and challenges ahead and I think Justin will do a great job leading this work.

Last night I attended the Regal Theaters Mystery Movie. It was the horror movie Bring Her Back, starring the fabulous Sally Hawkins. I enjoyed it. But many of my favorite horror movies use horror to explore social issues, like La Llorona, Sinners, and Get Out.
