Now we know why Rishi Sunak refuses to negotiate with NHS staff. He wants the strikes to go ahead, so he can blame doctors and nurses for his failure. #PMQs

The names of people who refused to accept that PAs were being used to replace doctors-and undermining training- and tried everything possible to undermine attempts to highlight this as well as the Royal College of Physicians vote during EGM: Evans; Melville; Mcleod; Whitty; Powis The people

Whoosh. There's nothing unprofessional about reporting when you have worked overtime, or being paid for it. Please read the contract properly. It IS our responsibility to report unsafe staffing, overwork, missed training, and ensure adequate rest. For safety and sustainability.

Resident doctors aren’t striking out of greed; they’re exhausted, undervalued, and keeping the NHS running. They make critical decisions every day. With low pay, huge debt, and broken training, two-thirds could leave the UK. independent.co.uk/voices/junior-…

Wes Streeting Cutting waiting lists starts with employing unemployed doctors. 1000s of doctors have been denied career progression to get the specialists we need. We must stop privitising the NHS, paying billions to management consultants and instead focus on retaining the doctors we have.

This is a landmark paper on the heritability of human traits👇 Using WGS data from 350K UK Biobank participants, the study shows that rare (>0.01%) and common (>1%) variants across coding and non-coding regions explain almost all (on average 88%) of the heritability (as

As a resident doctor in England, I’ll be back on strike tomorrow - and I want to be clear about why. We have NHS doctors who want to serve patients, who trained for years, who are being pushed into unemployment on top of Government caps on how many doctors can train to become

I would like Wes to answer 2 questions honestly: Why is he paying doctors less than their assistants? How does this year’s sub inflationary pay rise reflect the commitment he promised to fair pay restoration last year? People are sick of the broken promises & gaslighting

Let’s break this down properly. For resident doctors in England, that 28.9% headline isn’t Labour’s gift to doctors and it isn’t a windfall. It’s three years of DDRB recommendations after a decade of cuts. Labour gave one 4% top-up for the strikes in 2024. Even now,

You say that you are working to improve working lives, it's been 18 months since the initial work was started (linked below). How much longer shall we wait, another 18 months? Strikes are happening due to a failure of Government and NHSE to follow through on their empty

I spent today on the picket lines as a resident doctor in England. We’ve reached a point where NHS doctors who want to care for patients - who’ve undertaken years of training - are being left without jobs. Not because the NHS has enough doctors but because the Government has

The reason Wes Streeting and Jim Mackey can go for 95% of all elective activity is because they are substituting ACPs for doctors. They do it every day why not on strikes. Its not safe! During the strikes, consultants will be there! #AskForAConsultant (not a nurse one)

The UK didn’t accidentally underpay its doctors. It built a system where long, low-paid training, high debt, and a monopoly employer function like indentured servitude. Other universal systems don’t operate this way. The NHS does because politicians designed it that way.

Just seen some slides on job planning for senior doctors A lot of words to simply say: Can you do less supervision, education & do more clinical work? In an environment where system is being flooded with more non-doctors and lesser qualified people- who need more supervision

The GMC charges overseas doctors to sit an exam to practice in the UK In 2020, 3654 sat it In 2024, 19594 sat it A 436% increase in 4 years - all money for the GMC There aren’t 436% more jobs The GMC isn’t fit for purpose, is unethical & doesn’t have the confidence of doctors
