Jeez. I just dredged up a memory from primary school (Burnt Ash Lane Primary in Bromley as it happens) - same school David Bowie (Jones) went to, albeit 15 years after the great man left.

The memory was about my friend Nick - a wheelchair user, who also happened to be black...(cue meltdown from the pathetic online right)..in 1968 (when I was five/six) we became friends...Christ...how odd it is to dredge up these memories - and where the hell do they come from?

I recall (as a six-year-old) signing my name (in piss) in the boy's loos before leaving Burnt Ash Lane...Cage Green Infants/Juniors in Tonbridge (where we moved to) was an altogether shittier experience..I hated the place...

Hugh Christie Secondary Modern stunk too...loathed it. West Kent College of FE (by way of contrast) - brilliant...it led me to university (Manchester) via my mentor and all round teaching superstar, Rob Brown...(wonder if he is still alive?)...a fantastic teacher/lecturer.

Yesterday evening, I had a (really weird) *conversation* with a chap who had (as his logo) *No Farmers No Food*...unlike most of the ridiculous bots...he seemed genuine. But, at no point, could he recognise that the racist rhetoric being ramped up in the UK was awful...very odd.
