So impressed with how intentional the family is being about directing all proceeds to benefit the Gainesville community as a fixture of #TomPettyDay. Looking forward to their return for the posthumous awarding the Honorary Doctorate in Music to Tom Petty at FLORIDA Spring Graduation!

Dr. Lu recently invited me to join an Orchestra practice as narrator. What a breath of fresh air for me as a Dean! It was a reminder that I am also an artist/performer, and a moment to participate in our community in a more fully integrated way. Feeling grateful to participate!

I enjoyed meeting w/ Mayor Harvey Ward to listen to him talk about art & culture in Gainesville, and his plans to support it to cultivate our city as a cultural hub. We discussed SPARC352, community-based-and-led storytelling & art making—and imagined what the future could look like.

The Gator Marching Band (Fightin' Gator Marching Band) spent spring break in Ireland. Skies were a seasonal gray in Cork on St. Patrick's Day, but our Pride of the Sunshine brought a splash of Florida ☀️ to the Cork St. Patrick's Festival!
