🚨🧵With Mel Nowicki & Fraser William Curry I have been uncovering the scandal that are local authority rules on housing allocation which are banning thousands of indebted homeless families in England from social housing. Thanks Vicky Spratt for exposure: inews.co.uk/news/housing/c…

Sadly council housing is doomed unless there is serious government action to deal with the historic debt and rents too low to sustain the repairs backlog. Otherwise expect stock transfers to return (which will also require debt right offs)

I'll be speaking with Mel Nowicki at this new domestic abuse community of practice on Wednesday- reporting on our Debt Trap Nation findings in support of changes in social housing allocation for domestic abuse survivors nationally

The lack of safeguarding, minimum standards, data and commitment to reducing child mortality in TA has a catastrophic impact on the lives of these children. Florence Eshalomi MP highlighted the need for urgent action to bring an end to this crisis before more innocent lives are lost.

No one should have to have ‘sleep for dinner’. The UK government must urgently rethink planned cuts to support for disabled people And update Universal Credit so that it protects people from hunger and hardship.

We’re at #Housing2025, 9,000 attendees & Europe’s largest housing festival. Mel Nowicki made the case for statutory change in allocations to ensure domestic abuse survivors are exempted from housing-related debt rules which can bar them from social housing.
