Happy Prometheus Tissue Engineering team Dept of Development and Regeneration - KU Leuven / KU Leuven end of day 2 TERMIS-EU 2022 Krakow heading for the JointPromise_H2020 symposium!

We have been busy pushing towards increasing the TRL of our callus organoids in the latest work by Isaak Decoene at Dept of Development and Regeneration - KU Leuven we report on: Engineering bone-forming callus organoid implants in a xenogeneic-free differentiation medium, frontiersin.org/articles/10.33…

Curious and enthusiastic group of 8-10 year students learning about organ regeneration and tissue engineering. Prometheus, Terminator, Matrix et al., did the job. Special thanks to Isaak Decoene for doing a great job with the presentation ! Kinderuniversiteit Live Dept of Development and Regeneration - KU Leuven

In our latest Acta Biomaterialia publication we explore how fusion of cartilaginous spheroids with MEW meshes forming bone forming meshes ! Excellent collaboration with Moroni Lab Paul Wieringa MERLN groups in the context of Interreg NWE ! Dept of Development and Regeneration - KU Leuven authors.elsevier.com/a/1f%7Eq36CFjZ…

Cartilage #microtissues can be used to #tissueengineer bone-forming implants. Manual execution of differentiation protocols is notoriously difficult. In this work we developed a #Robotics-driven #biomanufacturing approach to address this! Dept of Development and Regeneration - KU Leuven biorxiv.org/content/10.110…

Happy to host the upcoming BELSACT - Belgian Society for Animal Cell Technolo symposium in KU Leuven! We have managed to put together an excellent program on 🧫Cell&Gene Therapy Technologies - Digitalisation -Sustainability! FREE registration for PhD/Masters students! The Regenerative Medicine Workshop in Prague, Czech Republic, on June 1, 2023, clustered 4 cutting-edge Horizon2020Projects #ORGANTRANS, AMELIE , premstem , JointPromise_H2020 funded by the European Commission HaDEA under the topic call SC1-BHC-07-2019.

And so yesterday I finished my PhD on #bone callus #organoids for #tissueengineering. Many thanks to my promotors Ioannis Papantoniou and Prof. Frank Luyten, jurymembers rlevato, Danny Kelly, Prof. Jeroen Lammertyn for the years guidence and, Christa Maes as Chair.

Our first paper for 2024 is out! We produced cartilaginous #microtissues at scale through the use of #robotics-based process and whole-well #imaging. Nice collaboration with verfaillie group! Dept of Development and Regeneration - KU Leuven academic.oup.com/stcltm/article…

Very happy to see our latest work published in #BoneResearch! In this work we explored how donor material affects cartilage to bone transition for engineered #callus #organoids revealing an emergent role for biological sex !
