El sismo ubicado al Norte de Honduras con M7.6, registrado en la componente Este-Oeste en un piso 16 en el Sur de la Cd. De MƩxico. El sismo tiene muy poca posibilidad de generar un tsunami, por ser de movimiento lateral.

Spatial and temporal distribution of the seismic activity between the islands of Santorini and Amorgos. Purple dots represent the oldest earthquakes, while yellow dots represent the most recent earthquakes. The size of dots is the magnitude. Source: tinyurl.com/yj3nd5nt

Some updated figures showing the magnitudes, focal depth, latitude and longitude of the Santorini swarm over time (data source: #emsc (EMSC)). Note the interesting ±0.1° undulation of latitudes and longitudes over time with a period of ~8 days.

What does an earthquake look like beneath your feet? This visualization (by John Rekoske) shows seismic waves in action. We’re studying how such visuals improve public communication after major earthquakes. Please take our short survey & share: ww3.unipark.de/uc/SIOseismicv… Debi Kilb

We see you, Aotearoa. A M6.9 (prelim.) earthquake ~140 km offshore of the southernmost South Island, New Zealand, and widely felt across the South and North Islands, as detected on Seismology Research Centre seismic network in southeast Australia.

A M7.7 followed ~11 mins later by a M6.4 aftershock - still a strong earthquake and likely damaging in itself - in Myanmar/ Burma about 40 mins ago. It took ~12 minutes for the associated waveforms to arrive at our recorders in the Seismology Research Centre network in southeast Australia.

In the last ~2 weeks the Asia Pacific region has experienced several significant earthquakes. In addition, Japan released casualty and economic loss scenarios resulting from a local M8.0+ earthquake. I spoke with ABC News to answer a few questions. abc.net.au/news/2025-04-1…

This morning a M4.6 (prelim.) earthquake near Singleton was felt across eastern NSW. Our latest analysis here at Seismology Research Centre now has this as M4.9 with a depth of <4 km - comparable to the depths of earthquakes at the nearby Mt Arthur Coal Mine in 2024. abc.net.au/news/2025-04-2…
