ACL Friday! Lots of discussion lately about the ACL "healing." Let's critically evaluate the main study that has brought this to the mainstream, the KANON trial (a thread) 1/5: Methods 120 pts randomized to rehab & optional delayed ACL recon vs early ACLR pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/36328403/

ITV News Paul Brand It’s also the sad outcome of just how hard it has become for consultants to be listened to or effect change in the modern NHS. So depressing. So unnecessary. So needing to change.

Mike Henley 🤨 It's frightening how seven of the most experienced members of the paediatrics department complained and were all shot down and forced to apologise. Who would they have believed if not them? Emblematic of how poorly management think of their doctors these days.

Thicker grafts have been associated with an increase in the risk of arthrofibrosis, but grafts thinner than 7 to 8 mm have been associated with a higher risk of re-rupture. Read more from @CORRelationsMD

Today’s “NHS must change” chat I get paid fortnightly just received my first Sydney pay It’s more (if you extrapolate to a month) than a 🇬🇧 7 year, 12 PA consultant would earn The greatest resource in healthcare is the staff Pay them or lose them #medtwitter #orthotwitter

Another option is to put a Wolf cannula through the pin hole, connect the suction and leave it in place during the whole cementation / implantation process.

What a great illustration of reality with a knee replacement. A great operation in the right patient for the correct indications - but a tough first few weeks of recovery.

Deepu Sethi (@deepusethi) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Certainly something to note in all ACL tears. In a primary with a high slope it is useful to counsel the patient explain that they may have a higher risk of re-injury. But slope correction in a primary, no. May add a LET to reduce risk of reinjury.
