5th June is #HIV Long-Term Survivors Awareness Day, & also the anniversary of the first reports of what would become known as #AIDS in the MMWR in 1981. #HLTSAD celebrates and honours long-term survivors of the epidemic & highlights the ongoing challenges and needs of PLWHIV.

Constructive meeting with Minister for Health @DonnellyStephen this afternoon. We spoke about procurement and equitable access to vaccine, resourcing the community response, and protecting sexual health service capacity as HIV & STIs continue to rise during #monkeypox outbreak.

An important note for commentators on #monkeypox in Irish media: Comments like ‘it’s not that serious’, and ‘people are not concerned’ are not helpful. Gay and bi men are very concerned about a virus that can result in a painful illness and we’re taking it very seriously.
