My penultimate PhD project is out in Nature Chemical Biology! We engineered LaccID, a cell surface-specific enzyme for proximity labeling and EM. Derived from an ancestral laccase, it performs the same chemistry as APEX2 but using O2 instead of H2O2. nature.com/articles/s4158…

Happy to see that my first PhD student has ended her thesis today. Nice piece of work put together with amazing discussions of Isabel de la Mata, Mario Mencia and Frank Hollmann. Of cour this work would not be possible without the amazing Directed Enzyme Evolution Laboratory.
