Listen to the stories of four survivors from the Head & Neck Cancer Support Group at Gilda'sClubMiddleTN. At a routine dental checkup, Trina Baum's dentist saw something in her oral cancer screening: throat cancer. Now in remission, she stresses the importance of those screenings.

Barbara Blades was diagnosed with cancer on her tongue. During treatment, physical therapy helped her relearn to talk, chew and swallow. She still struggles with it. The Head & Neck Cancer Support Group at Gilda'sClubMiddleTN offered the resources she needed to face her new reality.

Debra Sheridan was having trouble swallowing food. A biopsy showed tonsil cancer and led her to the Head & Neck Cancer Support Group at Gilda'sClubMiddleTN. Now, she uses an electrolarynx. Her mindset remains positive, but she says awareness about head and neck cancer is lacking.

A biopsy from Jimmy Griscom's jaw showed cancer and a five percent chance of survival. He beat the odds but now talking and eating are a constant struggle. He is active with the Head & Neck Cancer Support Group at Gilda'sClubMiddleTN to help the next person who is navigating cancer.

Zoofari has been the top fundraiser for Zoo Knoxville for over 35 years, raising more than $1.1 million annually for the zoo's education, conservation, and animal care programs. We are proud to support an organization doing such important work.
