Whether or not low pressure develops in the Gulf (or Atlantic) later this week, we are in for significant rains. A stalled out front will bump up rain chances right through the holiday weekend. This has the look of a drought buster for much of the state.

Rain chances, and coverage, will be increasing pretty dramatically Thursday and the 4th. Still watching the tropics too. Development or not, our rain chances will remain high into the weekend.

Scattered showers in the Gulf. Some will make it onshore overnight. I suspect the best rain chances and coverage will be later on Wednesday, Thursday and part of the 4th. Anything after that, depends on whether or not low pressure develops in the Gulf. The latest at 7:30 on DPL.

Tropics Update: Still at 40%. The rain we're seeing the next few days have nothing to do with this system. Whether it develops of not, it really doesn't matter. The impacts for us will be the same. Very little.

Classic Florida rain totals. Over several inches of rain in some spots and nearly nothing in others. More of the same on the 4th.

Upper low (right on top of us) with slowly move to the East over the next 24 to 36 hours. Once it moves into the Atlantic, there could be slow development and a depression could form. Either way, only impacts are what we're seeing right now. Rain for some folks.

Little spin going on with a few of these cells. Nothing widespread, but we're keeping our eyes on all of these storms and let you know if they get a bit feisty.

In typical Florida weather fashion, some areas Doppler estimates of 8" of rain since midnight and other areas, not a drop. Try forecasting that nonsense.

Coverage easily 90% the past 24 hours. Totals from zip to over 10 inches the past 24 hours. That, my friends, is classic Florida weather. Hope you had a great 4th!

Coastal areas with the jackpot the past 2 days. In typical Florida fashion, I look forward to the "We didn't get any rain this weekend. Those weather people are clueless.

Heavy rains have just about moved offshore. SW flow should return tomorrow meaning SCATTERED morning showers along the coast and a better chance of storms moving inland later in the day.
