#CardioNuggets: Don’t Trust Calculated LDL-C in High TG States: Friedewald Formula: LDL-C = TC – HDL-C – (TG ÷ 5) Assumes TG:VLDL-C = 5:1, which holds only if TG < 200 mg/dL. ❌ In Hypertriglyceridemia (TG > 200–400): VLDL is more TG-rich → formula overestimates VLDL-C LDL-C
