Under the Biden-Harris Administration, we have expanded access to homeownership. Despite high housing costs and a challenging market, we made historic reforms to help hundreds of thousands of Americans buy and keep a home.

I joined POLITICO to discuss how we have worked with our partners nationwide to expand housing supply and help the people we serve thrive. Under President Donald J. Trump' leadership, we have invested historic levels of funding that will result in tens of thousands of new homes for Americans.

Thanks to President Donald J. Trump, Vice President JD Vance, and the incredible HUD team, HUD has delivered more than $1.4 billion to the American people in record time. Youth transitioning out of foster care need housing stability and access to affordable homes. With the funding announced today, HUD and local agencies will keep our most vulnerable youth off the streets and in stable environments where they can thrive.

We continue to make strong community development investments in Indian country. This funding allows Tribal Nations to meet the needs of their communities and make critical infrastructure improvements.

When disaster strikes, we know that families and communities need not only resources, but time to recover. By extending our foreclosure moratorium, we continue our efforts to help those affected by the catastrophic Hurricanes Helene and Milton to repair and rebuild.

I joined Center on Budget to discuss the strides HUD has taken to strengthen housing stability nationwide through our rental assistance programs. I am proud that the Biden-Harris Administration fought for and provided additional rental assistance, the most in 20 years.

There is a great need to repair aging homes and build new housing in rural communities, but financing this work can be challenging. These experienced non-profits will bridge the gap and help ensure we are improving the state of rural housing across the country.

I've heard from property owners who have difficulty maintaining affordable rents while keeping up with rising expenses, impeding our efforts to boost the supply of available affordable homes. These adjustments will help families and housing providers keep up with housing costs.
