The 'Cinco de Mayo' rose is the perfect flower for today 🌹

The first Matilija poppy of the season provided a dose of cheer under yesterday's May gray sky 🍳 More of these egg-cellent blooms should flower over the next few weeks in the California Garden.

What lovely... dolphin flowers? 🐬 Delightful Delphinium is blooming beautifully this spring at Descanso. Commonly known as larkspur, its genus name derives from the Ancient Greek word for dolphin due to the shape of its flower buds.

If you love a good pop of orange, don't miss Calendula 'Alpha' blooming near Center Circle. Commonly known as pot marigold, these charming flowers are part of the daisy family. Our doors are open daily from 9am–7pm.

Sun's out, fun's out at the Descanso Railroad 🚂 Created with all-natural materials by Applied Imagination, the Road Trip Across America installations are adding a delightful dose of whimsy to the garden. Our model trains run from 8:30am–6:30pm daily.

Descanso is open all weekend, including Memorial Day on May 26. Our hours are 9am–7pm. From now–Labor Day, admission is free for active-duty military members and up to five family members. Military veterans with valid ID receive free entry from Memorial Day–Labor Day.

Crikey, we've got bloomin' onions 🧅 Allium 'Globemaster' has been delighting visitors with its gorgeous, huge blooms along the Promenade. Commonly known as ornamental onions, they don't produce vegetables but are instead enjoyed for their floral flare.

They call me mellow yarrow 🌼 If you love bright and cheery pops of yellow, don't miss blooming Achillea millefolium near our entrance on Descanso Drive. First planted in 2020, we are delighted that the yarrow as well as other plants are thriving along the front drive.
