Three nurses who made an indelible mark on the profession - even though not all of their stories are widely known. Our history and our texts should reflect their collective experiences.

Just finished an excellent book. “The Black Angels” is a true story about the TB epidemic of the 1900s & the nurses who fled the Jim Crow South & fought for equality at a time when Black nurses weren’t welcome. A painful reminder of our society not so very long ago.

It’s canning day: Homemade pickles (mom’s recipe) and homemade tomato ketchup (great grandmother’s recipe). Canning was a means of survival growing up in rural Tennessee. Now it’s a nice memory of family traditions and much better than store bought. More to come tomorrow.

As a profession, we have to evolve to excel. This manuscript amplifies the ‘value’ of nursing rather than the ‘cost’ and provides a roadmap for a successful and sustainable future for acute and critical care nursing. Let’s get this conversation started! nursingoutlook.org/article/S0029-…

Today marked our 20th cohort of graduating Nurse Residents since we resumed our program post-COVID. To date, we have welcomed over 500 newly registered nurses to MMC. The culmination of the program is dissemination of their EBP projects.
